Can the world change?

WELCOME

Hello and welcome to my website!

My name is Renjie Butalid and since 2007, I have been intrigued by the concepts of social entrepreneurship and social innovation, two compelling reasons why I believe the world will change for the better. But what do these two concepts really mean, and what are its implications on global society? This website is dedicated to deepening my understanding of these two concepts, as well as connecting with other like-minded people and organizations that want to see a different world from the world we currently live in now: a world where we are faced with the real and pressing issues of war, poverty, homelessness, declining resources ranging from food and water to energy, as well as climate change and the impending natural disasters that have devastated populations across the world.

But in the midst of all these crises, can the world really change? This website is designed to explore different solutions and different ways of thinking about our society as well as the future that we would want for ourselves and the next generation. This website will not be rants about how ‘unfair’ or ‘broken’ the system is without offering any solutions, as this would be counter-productive to the notion of the desire to create change in the system: being part of the problem instead of the solution, as the very clichéd saying goes. Instead, I will use this website to reference and highlight emerging thoughts and trends in the fields of social entrepreneurship and social innovation, spanning multiple themes from business, politics and technology to the non-profit sector, arts and entertainment, providing my own commentary from time to time. I invite you to embark on this journey of discovery with me.
